Effects of Social Networks on Job Attainment and Match Quality: Evidence from the China Labor-Force Dynamics Survey

Using nationally representative data from the 2012 and 2014 China Labor-force Dynamics Survey, this paper investigates effects of network types (kinship/non-kinship) resources (information/influence) on job attainment match quality in China. We find a wage premium obtained through both kinship non- networks but shorter duration only jobs non-kinship networks. In regards to different networks, embedded are not important. This conundrum can be reconciled if we take structure type work unit into account. Kinship more pervasive public sector, with better earnings stable positions. Non-kinship bring about lead dissatisfaction, especially promotion opportunities. highlights market when studying sheds new light that really matter those result possible loss quality.
